Commercial Market Access/Reimbursement Consultant (Fractional) - REMOTE Chicago , IL
ID: 25761

Orbis Clinical is seeking a remote-based Market Access/Reimbursement Consultant for <6 months (preference for candidates open to occasional travel to Chicago as needed).

Overview

An early-stage medical technology company is seeking an experienced Market Access / Reimbursement Consultant to establish the U.S. reimbursement strategy for a novel neurology-focused medical device and monitoring platform.

This is a fully remote, fractional consulting engagement for someone who can assess the reimbursement landscape, determine the strongest coding, coverage, and payment pathways, and translate those findings into a practical commercialization roadmap. Expected initial commitment of approximately 10–15 hours per week. Initial project duration anticipated at approximately 3–4 months, with potential to extend as implementation needs develop.

The ideal consultant is comfortable working within a lean startup environment where the strategy is still taking shape and will provide both senior-level guidance and hands-on execution.

Job Description

  • Assess the U.S. reimbursement landscape and recommend the optimal coding, coverage, and payment strategy
  • Determine whether existing codes can support the technology or whether a new CPT, HCPCS, or other coding pathway should be pursued, and lead that strategy as appropriate
  • Develop payer engagement, pricing, value proposition, and evidence strategies to support favorable reimbursement
  • Identify clinical, HEOR, or real-world evidence gaps that could impact coverage and commercialization
  • Partner across clinical, regulatory, product, and commercial functions to translate recommendations into a clear, prioritized market access roadmap

Requirements & Experience

  • Neurology product experience is required; epilepsy experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong reimbursement experience across medical devices, MedTech, diagnostics, and/or wearable technologies; diagnostic or wearable experience is strongly preferred
  • Direct, hands-on experience evaluating and pursuing new coding pathways, including new-code generation
  • Demonstrated experience developing reimbursement strategies across coding, coverage, payment, and engagement with commercial insurers, Medicare, Medicaid, and health systems
  • Early-stage/startup experience is required, including the ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and build strategy from the ground up

Degree/Education Requirements

  • Advanced degree in health economics, health policy, public health, business, life sciences, or a related field, or bachelor's degree with equivalent advanced professional experience.

Years of Experience

  • 7+ years of market access/reimbursement experience
  • At least 3 recent years directly supporting medical devices or MedTech
