Orbis Clinical is seeking a Scientist Associate located in San Diego, CA for 6 months.

Job Title: Scientist Associate

Location: San Diego, CA

Contract: 6 months

Duties:

  • Conduct research to develop methodologies, instrumentation and procedures for medical application, analyzing data and presenting findings.
  • Evaluate effects of drugs, gases, pesticides, parasites, and microorganisms at various levels.
  • Follow strict safety procedures when handling toxic materials to avoid contamination.
  • Investigate cause, progress, life cycle, or mode of transmission of diseases or parasites.
  • Plan and direct studies to investigate human or animal disease, preventive methods, and treatments for disease.
  • Prepare and analyze organ, tissue and cell samples to identify toxicity, bacteria, or microorganisms, or to study cell structure.
  • Standardize drug dosages, methods of immunization, and procedures for manufacture of drugs and medicinal compounds.
  • Confer with health department, industry personnel, physicians, and others to develop health safety standards and public health improvement programs.
  • Study animal and human health and physiological processes.
  • Consult with and advise physicians, educators, researchers, and others regarding medical applications of physics, biology, and chemistry.
  • Teach principles of medicine and medical and laboratory procedures to physicians, residents, students, and technicians.
  • Use equipment such as atomic absorption spectrometers, electron microscopes, flow cytometers and chromatography systems.

Skills:

  • Deep technical understanding of, and hands-on experience with, molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, gene editing techniques, and cell biology.
  • Cell culture, western blot, electrophoresis, ELISA, flow cytometry, PCR/qPCR/ddPCR, microscopy (bright field, fluorescent, confocal, etc.), etc. *
  • Experience in optimizing methods with particular emphasis on cell-based potency assays, molecular biology assays, microscopy, and protein chemistry assays

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Compensation Details:

  • Orbis Clinical is an equal opportunity employer that provides a reasonable range of compensation for our positions. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience and specific office location.
  • The Pay Range for this position is $56.40 per hour, can vary depending on employment status.
  • Orbis Clinical offers eligible employees health benefits (medical, dental, and vision), employer-paid basic life and AD&D insurance, and a partial employer match on a 401(k).
