Orbis Clinical is seeking a Contract Vivarium Operations Technician located in Columbus, OH for 12 months.
Job Title: Contract Vivarium Operations Technician
Location: Columbus, OH
Contract: 12 months
Update from Manager: It will still be 100% onsite in Columbus, OH. Comfortable with a Tuesday through Saturday work schedule. Start and end times each day are flexible, start between 7-9 am and end between 3-5 pm.
The Importance of the Role:
The Contract Vivarium Operations Technician will support the operations of the vivarium and support non-clinical study data collection.
The Opportunity to Make a Difference
- Perform husbandry tasks for study animals including cage change.
- Perform daily study animal checks to promote animal welfare.
- Perform colony Management tasks
- Oversight and performance of routine maintenance.
- Receiving rodents.
- Assist in daily Pest Control checks.
- Assist with the operation of cage wash, autoclave, and laundry.
- Evaluate and implement strategy to ensure operations compliance.
- Performs additional related duties as required.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Study Protocols.
- Document with strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Humanely and confidently handling rodents.

- Associate or bachelor’s degree, scientific field preferred.
- Ability to work holidays and weekends.
- Passionate about animal welfare.
- Experience in laboratory animal handling and restraint techniques.
- Ability to work as part of a team with organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and ability to follow verbal instructions.
- Strong understanding and ability to follow laboratory methods and SOPs .
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Compensation Details:

- The Pay Range for this position is $19.35 – $24.13 per hour, can vary depending on employment status.
